Beginning with Teamprise 2.0, the Teamprise Client Suite requires Product Activation in order to operate. Product Activation associates your TFS credentials with your license key, making it easy for your License Administrator to track volume license usage in your organization.
Because you may not be connected to the Internet, or may not be able to contact Teamprise to activate, we provide a 15 day grace period from the point at which you begin connecting to your TFS server. You may use Teamprise for 15 days without activation; however, upon expiration of the grace period, Teamprise will no longer be able to connect to the TFS server with your credentials.
Automatic Activation is the easiest way to activate your Teamprise Client Suite. If you are connected to the Internet, and you do not have a firewall blocking SSL (port 443) traffic, you may simply click the "Auto Activate" button to activate. Your Teamprise Client will communicate with our Activation Server and generate an Activation Key which will be installed for you. You may then continue using Teamprise to connect to your TFS server.
You will be required to use the activate command:
tf activate -user:<username@domain> [<activationFile>]
This command activates the configured license key for the given Team Foundation Server user. A license key must first be installed with the license command.
If no activation file argument is given, a Teamprise activation server is automatically contacted to activate the given user. If an activation file is given, no Teamprise activation server is contacted and the activation information is read from this file.
If you have an Internet connection, you may manually activate by visiting our Activation Server: https://license.teamprise.com/. You will be prompted for your TFS credentials (username @ domain) and the License Key your organization received when you purchased Teamprise.
If you are unable to access our Activation Server via the Internet, you may contact us by telephone to activate your Teamprise product. You may contact Teamprise Support at 217-356-8515 to receive an Activation Key. You will be asked to provide your TFS credentials (username @ domain) and the License Key you received when you purchased Teamprise.
If you log in to the TFS server as several different users, or log in to several different TFS servers, you will be required to activate for each instance.
Your Activation Key is generated from the following pieces of information:
TFS Credentials, which provide your username and domain.
Teamprise License Key, which identifies your organization.
No other information is gathered from you in the Activation process.
