On Unix platforms where Teamprise Explorer uses the Motif windowing toolkit, Teamprise Explorer may appear to hang or not accept mouse and keyboard input when it loads. This problem is due to an incompatible window manager.
The problem appears more often when using X server programs for Microsoft Windows. The problem has not been observed when using the Unix vendor's X server and window managers on a Unix workstation.
After launching Teamprise Explorer, the splash screen appears, but it does not disappear even though the main window may load. The application does not consume excess CPU cycles in this condition.
The Eclipse IDE itself is known to have the same problem when run with the conditions that cause the problem in Teamprise Explorer.
The following window managers and X servers are known to cause the splash screen to fail to disappear:
Note: Linux window managers are listed here but no Motif version of Teamprise Explorer is supported on Linux. These window managers are listed because they may manage windows on the X server where a remote instance of Teamprise Explorer (perhaps for AIX or HP-UX) is displayed.
The only currently known work-around is to change window managers. This KB article will be updated with any new fixes or work-arounds as they are discovered.
When Teamprise Explorer on the platforms below, the listed window managers do not exhibit the problem in our testing environments:
